Confidentiality Policy

One of the features of Psychotherapy and Coaching is the confidential space that it provides for you to share yourself and be heard, knowing that the content will be held within the boundaries of confidentiality.

Circumstances where it is not possible to uphold confidentiality are in the event of:

  • Serious Risk: If there is a risk of harm to yourself or another person, I have a duty to pass this on to the appropriate authority (GP, Police, etc) in order to do all that is possible to keep all parties safe.

  • Safeguarding Children: If information is disclosed about a risk of significant harm to a child, I have a duty under the Children Act to pass on this information to Children's Services or the Police. This includes any illegal activities defined by the 2003 Sexual Offences Act.

  • Prevent: I am obligated to pass on concerns about offences under the Prevention of Terrorism Act 1987.

This confidentiality agreement extends to my clinical supervision where I share client material in order to ensure that I am giving you the best experience.
